The Office of the Mayor is conducting symposia about the Baguio City Dumpsite Proposal. One was held at the Aringay National Highschool in the morning, another in the afternoon at the ACES where all teachers from the different schools of our town were required to attend. Those who attended didn’t know that the attendance sheet they signed will be used as an attatchment to a petition favoring the proposal of Baguio with regards to the dumping of garbage in Aringay. It is interesting to note that all the resource speakers in the symposia are municipal employees under the mayor who are all “ALIENS” in Aringay! Imagine these “ALIENS” convincing citizens of our town for them to agree the dumping of “ALIEN GARBAGE” in our beautiful Aringay!!! Talks abound that the attendance sheet signed by the different barangay officials, BHW’s and CVO’s during the June 12 celebration of our Independence Day will also be used as an attatchement to a petition favoring the dumping of Baguio garbage in Aringay.

Pretty smooth move, but we Aringayenos know better!!! More updates to come. Huwag kayong kukurap/ku-currupt! Hahaha.

This is with regards to the very alarming issue regarding the Aringay-Baguio Engineered Sanitary Landfill Proposal. I’m just an ordinary citizen who but only wish our hometown what’s best. It’s so sad that our beautiful hometown is beset with issues regarding garbage from a city as big as Baguio. I understand that some members in the website has yet to see the other side of the coin before making negative comments.

Personally, I say, it’s not as bad as many Aringayeños think. When the issue cropped up I started to make a personal research regarding engineered sanitary landfill and I found out that it’s not one like that of Payatas or just any other ordinary dumpsite afterall. I have also read the mandate on Solid Waste Management or the Republic Act 9003 which both the LGU of Baguio and Aringay has to rigidly comply with before the project / proposal will push through. I strongly believe that health of the constituents as well as environmental safety is not compromised which Mayor Teresita Ong is very much aware of.

Issues such as this should not be discussed in the internet. And to quote our website owner Mang Romy, “This message board is not intended to address political issues in our hometown or to express hatred towards others, this forum was created to bring us all together”. I have high regard to the members of Aringay Yahoo who I see as the most respected and prominent constituents of this town but some may not agree that political interests should be set aside when opportunity for development knocks at our door for as long as the lives of our people are not endangered.

The municipal government under the leadership of Mayor Ong, before anyone else does not forget that she is first and foremost responsible for this and that the dumpsite issue or project will not be allowed if not equipped with all the safety nets incorporated in the proposal from planning to implementation to evaluation up to strict monitoring.

My friends, peace to all of you, this issue should not divide us. I urge the municipal government to post in the Youtube or to its website the proposal of Baguio City with all the concept of what an engineered sanitary landfill is all about.

In the meantime, let’s pray for peace and unity in our town and lets not aggravate the political issues in the name of development by being one sided. Many thanks!

Napanood ko sa news kani-kanina lang na pinag-aawayan ng mga legislators natin kung pwede bang gawing garbage dumpsite ng Baguio ang Aringay. Gagawin daw ito sa Barangay Salapak kung sakali. Wow! Is this even an argument people?! Come on! Wake up! We’re talking about more or less a ton of smelly, disgusting, and toxic “City Garbage” getting dumped at us EVERYDAY! Wow!!! That’s a great deal Mayora, except for the fact that you’re gonna pollute our town’s NATURAL RESOURCES, POISON THE PEOPLE LIVING NEAR THE SITE, DEVELOP MANY KINDS OF DEADLY DISEASES, and gradually KILL OUR TOWN’S TOURISM INDUSTRY! Which is IRONICALLY, taga-Aringay pa ang Mutya Ng Turismo natin at this year’s Miss La Union Beauty Pageant! Think about it!!! Will that 34-million be worth the risk of permanently losing our pride and the great things that Aringay is famous for?! Personally, I really hope that this whole idea of dumping city garbage to our town will NOT happen, EVER!

I choose to remain anonymous because I believe that revealing my identity is futile, and that I speak on behalf of every Aringayeno who can’t express their angst, dismay, and disbelief regarding this issue. This is clearly an act of selfishness and greed without any concerns of the devastating consequences that would take place here in our town of Aringay.

To all our legislators who are still rooting for this Baguio Dumpsite idea, think about what you’re doing, because in the long run, lahat tayo talo pag natuloy itong bagay na ‘to. Maybe not today, not tomorrow, but in the long run… ‘yung mga future Aringayenos natin ang magkaka-problema. Think about it.

Thanks to this website because I was able to vent out what’s really bothering me. Alam ko na hindi lang ako ang nakakaramdam ng ganito kundi lahat din ng mga kapwa ko Aringayeno.

It’s a long trip to my home in Aringay from Virginia. I jump on a plane and from that moment, I start to anticipate the next trip ( to my province) after my arrival at Ninoy Aquino airport. As soon as I go through custom and the sliding door open, a gush of hot air filled with diesel smell rushes through my face, I made it home halfway. Then my next trip is another 7-8 hours to my home, Aringay, La Union, San Juan West Barrio. I reach home and I am still up. It is now 48 hours since I left Virginia Beach, VA. I am now home. That was August 2008. I am coming home again for the 10th time, in June 2009. This time to take care of business and pay a tribute to my love ones who have passed. This will be my last trip for awhile. Anyone who wants to hangout for a beer, response with your cell no. and I will txt u when I get to town. Arriving June 21 2009 1030PM, Will get to Aringay next day. Also if you want , you can email me at jorgenq@hotmail.com
